Safe Online Shopping Tips

July 10th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Tips

The online shopping industry has grown a lot in the last year, and millions of people prefer to buy from the large variety of online stores than to waste time at the long lines from supermarkets. Furthermore, the online shopping industry keeps growing, and more and more products are made available online. You can now find everything from CD’s to fruits and books, and you can purchase the items you want just with a few clicks.

But you need to take some things into consideration if you intend to find the best deals and the best online shops. You also need to beware of the security issues that may occur. If you try to remember the simple things mentioned here your online shopping experience will be practical, fun and safe.

First of all, try to buy from a well-known company that has an online business that everyone has heard about. Most of the large companies also sell their products online, so if you purchase from a well known brand, the risks of fraud or poor quality items disappear.

Also try to use a secure server when you shop and use your credit card. Using the latest version of the internet browser also increases security. Most of the online shopping websites use encrypted information anyway, to prevent hackers from stealing personal information.

Use an online shopping directory to find the best shopping sites and deals. Shopping directories are great when searching for online shopping websites, because they have links to a large variety of sites, and the stores are grouped in categories depending on their region and on the merchandise that they are selling. Some of the online shopping directories also have reviews of the stores that they are linked to, so that you know what to expect from them.

Try to find the lowest prices and deals on the items that you want to purchase. There are some websites that have links to other websites that have discounts and special offers on their products. You can use one of these sites to compare between several stores and find the best prices.

Spend a few minutes to read the privacy policy and the return policy of the company that you’ve decided to buy from, so you know what to expect from them. After placing the order print the page so you keep a proof in case something goes wrong.

Make sure that the merchandise that you ordered will be delivered to you in time. The closer the store is to your location, the faster your order will come to you, and the shipping fees will also be lower too. You may find a cheaper item in an online store that is outside of your country, but it’s better to order from inside your country, because the shipping fees for an item that comes from across the border will be higher.

Online shopping can save you a lot of time and money, and the online market keeps growing so if you haven’t tried buying something from an online store, give it a try and you’ll see that it’s much simpler than going to a supermarket. You can order food and clothes for you family in a few minutes and with a few clicks, and you don’t have to leave your home to do it.

All the online shops contain a brief descriptions of the products that you can buy from them, and pictures so you can see the things, so there’s nothing to worry about. Many people became addicted to online shopping after placing a few orders, and the safety of online shopping keeps increasing, so why don’t you give it a try? Just remember the simple advises mentioned above.

Fabric Shopping Tips

When shopping for clearance fabric, it is important to choose the right fabric store for your needs. There are literally hundreds of stores all throughout the US. To add to the confusion, there’s even more online, most of which are the same brick and mortar shops across town.

I prefer to shop through an online store, as prices are cheaper. The only trick is locating that one reliable online fabric store that will deliver the goods to your standards. Below are three easy tips that everyone should know before buying clearance or discount fabric online:

1) You should only deal with fabric retailers that have a no questions asked return policy. If the retailer is reputable, they will honor a return for any reason (assuming you don’t torch it or let the baby… well you get the point). Make sure you check their return policy before shopping.

2) Make sure you fully understand the fabric you are purchasing. The way it drapes, feels, and looks should always be considered carefully along with the type of project you have in mind. If you are planning on buying a lot of the fabric, it is definitely a good idea to order multiple swatch samples before asking them to make a big cut from a roll.

3) The online store should be committed to customer service. If you have any questions, they should have a phone number and email address for you to contact them. If they don’t answer your questions with a good attitude and in a timely manner, you should consider another place. Successful fabric retailers understand this and will make sure you are satisfied as a customer.

Discount does not mean cheap quality. Usually clearance fabric is due to overstock, and not much else. You should expect the same quality and service as if it were any other type of fabric the online retailer carries. Stick to these three tips and you will be saving more while gaining a good relationship with a reliable online fabric source.

Groceries Shopping Tips

July 8th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Tips

During a time of high gas prices and an unstable economy, families are working even harder to figure out effective ways to save money. With careful planning, money conscious consumers can get the best deal for their money.

Before you go to the grocery store, plan your trip:

* Check your pantry to see what you can make with what you already have. Many people have cabinets full of food that they never use. Take a quick look to see what ingredients you have, and then try to plan some meals using those ingredients.
* Write a shopping list based off of what meals you are going to prepare that week. Develop a meal schedule of what you will eat each day that week, and then write down the groceries you will need. This will help you remember what you need, so you do not need to make multiple trips to the grocery store.
* Check the newspaper regularly for coupons. The major coupon day is Sunday, so it is worth it to buy a newspaper each Sunday. You may find coupons for many products you already use, and it is not unusual to find coupons for as much as $1 off some of your favorite products.
* Save gas by planning ahead. Combine your trip to the grocery store with other errands you may need to do (just save the grocery shopping for last!).
* Before you get to the grocery store, review the store’s weekly ad. Oftentimes, you will receive it in the mail or you can check the grocery store’s website. In their ads, grocery stores list some or all of their best sales. Use this ad to make your grocery list, keeping an eye out for buy-one-get-one-free offers!

These tips will help you while you are at the store:

* Make sure to look around while shopping, and don’t just focus on the products that are at eye level. The shelves at eye level and end caps are like prime real estate. Products are strategically placed there so that you will be more likely to purchase them.
* Don’t be afraid to take your time. If you rush, you will miss good deals and may end up spending a lot more than you need to. If you take your time, you can compare prices on products to get the best price possible.
* Be aware of price per unit (ounce, pound, liter, etc). Bring a calculator to the store with you to compare the cost of different brands by calculating the price per unit. If you are looking to buy coffee, for example, you can find the cost per ounce by punching in the price and dividing it by the number of ounces that are in the container of coffee.
* Don’t assume that everything on “sale” is a good price or the best deal. Compare the “on sale” item to a comparable brand or buy the generic store brand.
* Try out generic or store brands. Quite often, the store brand or generic of a product is just as good as the name brand. It may be worth it to try out some store brand versions of your favorite products.
